About TMS
In order for EMT therapy to be effective, a series of treatment sessions is needed. Generally, sessions are done daily, 5 times a week for 4 to 6 weeks. The treatment usually lasts between 20 and 30 minutes per session.
Side effects are generally mild to moderate and improve shortly after an individual session and decrease over time after additional sessions. They can be some of the following:
- Tingling sensation, twitching or spasmodic movements of the facial muscles
- Transient headache
- Discomfort in the scalp stimulation area
- If the patient is pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
- If the patient has any metal medical device implanted in the body. In some cases, people with metal devices or implants can undergo MRI. However, due to the strong magnetic field that is produced during MRI, the procedure is not recommended for some people who have the following devices:
- Coils and clips for aneurysm
- Stents
- implanted stimulators
- Vagus nerve implant or deep brain stimulator
- Implanted electrical devices such as pacemakers or medication pumps
- Electrodes for monitoring brain activity
- Any magnetic implant
- If the patient has a history of seizures or a family history of epilepsy.
- If the patient has other mental health disorders, such as substance misuse, bipolar disorder, or psychosis.
The effects of EMT last between 3 and 6 months for most people. However, several people opt to return for follow-up treatment once a month or once every 2 to 3 months to maintain effects or prevent relapse.
Research shows that after six months, symptoms are significantly lower than at the time of treatment.
If repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation is effective for you, it is possible that your symptoms may improve or disappear completely. Relief of symptoms may come after a few weeks of treatment.
EMT Therapy is indicated for treatment in adult patients who have not seen satisfactory improvement with previous medication in the current episode. Your doctor will use medication dosage records and depression scores, among other measures, to determine whether they are a candidate for EMT Therapy.
For the professionals
Patients who have been diagnosed with:
- Depression
- Dysthymia
- Anxiety Disorder
- OCD
- Post-traumatic Stress
- Early-stage Parkinson’s
- ADHD
- Migraine
- Insomnia
- Among others
During a treatment session, an electromagnetic coil is placed on the patient’s scalp, for approximately 30 minutes on average. This emits painless magnetic pulses which stimulate the brain cells (neurons) in either an inhibitory or excitatory way, which controls a specific activity.
(As an example, the treatment could be used to activate neuro-chemical processes in patients with Parkinson’s, as well as Depression, Autism, and various pathologies of the patient’s peripheral system). Conversely, in patients with Anxiety, Addictions for instance, neuronal activity is sought to be inhibited.
There are different ways of performing the procedure and techniques may change as experts learn more about the most effective ways of applying this type of treatment.
In order to administer a TMS treatment, the professional must be duly certified and trained for this purpose.
It is recommended to receive TMS therapies in centres with the following endorsements:
1- The health center is directed by mental health professionals
2- The operator has their duly issued training certificate, with the corresponding date, rating, and signatures.
3- The health professional is supervising the treatment application.
4- The device has its records, calibration certificates, and safety guarantees.
1- Protocols with virtual assistant for the correct implementation of the system.
2- Training and certification for its correct use and application in patients
3- Helpline and technical assistance
4- Total extended unit and accessories warranty
NO, the equipment is prepared to connect to 110V to 220V 50/60Hz, according to requirement and destination country.
We have added new ways to finance your equipment: from a small deposit and interest-free monthly payments, discounts for cash purchases, to leasing for up to 60 months. Consult a Nibbot advisor to learn about terms and conditions.
Repetitive TMS is non-invasive, does not require anaesthesia and can be done on an outpatient basis. Although the patient does not necessarily need to arrange for someone to take him home, the patient might want someone to come with him for his first session until he has an idea of how hell feel afterwards.
For the patients
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive procedure which uses magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain.
During a treatment session, an electromagnetic coil is placed on the patient’s scalp for approximately 30 minutes. This emits painless magnetic pulses which stimulate the brain cells (neurons) in an inhibitory or excitatory manner, controlling a particular activity.

If you are considering to gradually reduce your antidepressant medication intake, TMS is a recommended treatment to avoid relapse during this period. It is not necessary to completely stop the medication before beginning treatment and antidepressants can still be taken throughout the treatment period. Any changes in the medication intake should be discussed with their prescribing doctor or psychiatrist.
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation treatments are considered to be costly alternatives for both professionals and patients. This imported technology is not easily found in the medical market, and professionals offering these treatments must be correctly certified and trained to perform this procedure.
The prices for these therapies vary depending on the device used by the professional, their training to offer the therapy, their medical preparation and the type of treatment they will offer. Generally speaking, a TMS session is between $40.00 USD and 120.00 USD.
Please note that for the treatment to be effective, the professional will require that you maintain your treatment for 1 month (10, 15 or 20 sessions), with the cost of the monthly session package ranging from USD600.00 to USD1,800.00, and upon completion of the treatment, reinforcement sessions will be applied according to the specialist’s instructions.
