The new therapy for neurological and psychiatric pathologies
Effective, safe and without medication
What is TMS?
Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive procedure that uses magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain in order to modify the inter- and intra-neuronal activity relationship.
How does it work?
- Brain cells communicate with each other by releasing neurotransmitters, which create an electrical impulse.
- This procedure uses a special coil to create a magnetic field in the area of the brain to be stimulated.
- The nerve cells are stimulated, increasing brain activity to normal levels.
TMS is effective for the following conditions
Psychiatric
- Improves mood.
- Helps to regain motivation to do various activities.
- Improves anxiety-related symptoms such as insomnia, sweating, and fatalistic feelings.
- Helps to reduce recurring thoughts that trigger symptoms.
- Reduces ritualistic behaviour.
- Reduces the repeated analysis of thoughts.
- Reduces feelings of agitation.
- Improves social behaviour.
- Decreases obsessive behaviour or repetitive behaviours.
Neurological
- Reduces motor and non-motor symptoms.
- Helps to better absorption of the medication decreasing side effects.
- Improved cognitive response.
- Reduction in the formation of beta-amyloid protein oligomers.
- Reduces the presence of tau protein clumps (neurofibrils) in the cerebrospinal fluid.
- Growth of neuronal axons
Physiological Effects
When the human brain is stimulated transcranially, a complex sequence of events follows, with both excitatory and inhibitory effects. These effects depend on the intensity of the stimulus, the excitability of the cortex and the medulla.
The positive effects of the use of the treatment are as follows
Effects in a few sessions
Effects in consolidated treatment
Treatment results
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a therapy that offers varying effectiveness for different types of patients. Usually, after a few weeks of treatment, the relief of symptoms is reduced or disappears completely.
TMS Application Protocols are evolving day by day. As research uncovers new techniques on the number of stimuli and the best places to stimulate the brain, new protocols are updated on Nibbot equipment remotely to offer patients the best treatments.
